We know that life is unpredictable. No one will be able to live a smooth life without obstacles, challenges and setbacks regardless of the stage in our lives or who we are. ‘Hope’ is the word on everyone’s mind whether it is big or small depends on what they are wishing for. Everyone wants to achieve their dreams or something that they are craving for. Some earnestly wish for peace and harmony in their family. Others hope for a healthy body for themselves.

How then, should I define “Hope”?

To me, it is a word that gives me a sense of positivity as one who has faith in God. Hope can also be a form of inner energy that can help an individual not to give up when they encounter difficulties and problems. I strongly believe hope is always to help us not to give up our future that we are working towards.

All humans hope for the best for themselves. That keeps him going or striving for what they need and want in life. No one remains at the lowest point permanently because it is a natural cycle and everyone will bounce if they work at it with hope. On the other hand, hope can also be meaningless if we do not do anything to achieve our dreams. Hope can easily become purely an illusion, if we do nothing to realise the practical and reality with an action to achieve what we are hoping for.

For the past two years, nobody expected the Covid-19 to affect the whole word and impact everybody’s life the way it has. Countries imposed lockdown and closed their borders to foreigners, not allowing anyone to come in or leave the country. It was a sad state of affairs to many across the world as we are forced to live with the virus and not knowing when it would end.

Until today, scientific researchers and doctors have been our only source of hope. They have worked non stop on the vaccines to fight the virus, hoping to stop it spreading and to save as many lives as possible. They put our hope in action. If nobody believes in the hope that mankind can find a cure, then everything would come to an end. Hope gives a possible response to what may appear insurmountable to us as human beings. While human beings cannot fight everything, it is also unacceptable to allow disasters to overtake us and kill thousands around us and do nothing about it.

I believe everyone is hoping this pandemic will come to an end and everything can go back to life as in pre-pandemic times. We are simply living in the hope for a better future. But life must move on no matter what happens and is the hope within the human spirit.

As for me, I am hoping humans can live in a better world not only free of diseases and viruses but in a more loving and kinder world. We are all living on this earth. We all only have this one earth. I pray and hope for a better world.

As long as I am alive, I will continue to also believe in the beauty of this world that ‘God’ created. Looking at the beauty of nature gives me renewed hope that a better world is out there. We must do our part to work at it and to attain what is within our grasp if we do not give up that hope that we have in each other.

I will keep praying for hope because without hope there is nothing that we can go on with for ourselves and for the rest of mankind.
