What is it about?
- LFEAS is a co-payment scheme. All applications are considered on a case-by-case basis. The amount subsidised varies from course to course and the quantum will be decided by the LFEAS Committee.
Eligibility?
- Applicant must be a Singapore Citizen or a Permanent Resident.
- Applicant has been accepted by a local institution to pursue a GCE ‘N’, ‘O’, ‘A’ Level, Diploma, or Degree course.
- Applicant who has been released from Prison or Drug Rehabilitation Centre (DRC) not more than 2 years before time of application.
- Applicant who is due for release soon and will be continuing his/her studies after release.
- A monthly gross household per capita income not exceeding $1,200.

- If you are an offender in an institution or emplaced on a Community Based Programme, please approach your Programme Officer.

Who is eligible for the scheme?
- All financially needy inmates who are due for release soon and ex-offenders who have been released from a prison/DRC not more than 2 years prior to application. Only Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents are eligible to apply for the scheme.
What courses of study are supported by this scheme?
- Applicants pursuing their GCE (‘N’, ‘O’, ‘A’ level) studies can apply.
- Applicants pursing their local polytechnic diploma courses or degree courses in local universities can also apply for the scheme.
Who should an applicant approach if he/she wants to apply for this scheme?
- If the applicant is an inmate or on any community based programme, the interested applicant may make enquiries through the Prison Programme Officer.
- If the applicant is an ex-offender, he/she can contact SACA directly for clarifications.
What documents must an applicant submit together with the completed application form?
- Copy of NRIC
- Acceptance letter from the education institution
- Highest Educational Certificate(s)
- Testimonial from Prison
- Letters of any financial awards, scholarship held previously or currently
- Salary slip of applicant and family members (working and living together) OR
- Latest CPF statement of applicant and family members (living together)
When must an applicant submit the application form?
- For inmates applying for the scheme, they can check through the Prison Programme Officer for the application deadline.
- For ex-offenders interested to apply for the scheme, they may check with SACA about the submission deadline.
